Born in Takamatsu. Began playing percussion at age 13 and the marimba at age 15. After studying in the Music Department at Takamatsu Daiichi High School, he graduated from the Faculty of Music at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music. He completed the Master’s program at the university’s graduate school.
As a marimba and percussionist, he is active in a wide range of settings, including solo and chamber music performances. He has been involved in the premieres and recordings of new works written for marimba and percussion, including the commissioned premiere of Genta Ito’s marimba concerto Moves and the Asian premiere of Alejandro Viñao’s Patterns and Form. Furthermore, through collaborations with composers both in Japan and abroad—including composers of his own generation—he explores the creation of new works and the expressive possibilities of marimba and percussion music.
In addition to composing and arranging chamber music, he also explores new forms of expression that transcend conventional performance formats, such as improvisation combining electronics and percussion.
